June Bennett Lindsey, 67, of Tifton passed away Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2002, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Fred Evers and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mrs. Lindsey was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Darrell Lindsey, Rob Bennett, Clay Pilkinton, Jeremy Knight, Jeffrey Chastain and Dane Green served as pallbearers.
Born June 3, 1934, in Tift County, Mrs. Lindsey was the daughter of Jack Bennett, Sr. and Frances Maddox Bennett of Tifton. Before retiring, she was a technician at the Coastal Plain Experiment Station; and she was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Tifton. She was preceded in death by one son, James Ross Lindsey, Jr.; and one grandson, Colby Hooper.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lindsey is survived by her husband, James Ross Lindsey, Sr. of Tifton; two daughters, Cynthia Lindsey of Tifton and Renee Lindsey Winter of Roswell; three brothers, Nick Bennett of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Ray Bennett of Oglethorpe and Jack Bennett, Jr. of Tifton; and two sisters, Carolyn Pilkinton of Tifton and Milva Knight of Waycross.
