Kenneth F. "Buddy Mac" McCreevan a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died at The North End Nursing Care Center in Boston on Friday July 21, 2006 following a long battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.
Buddy was born in Boston on March 29, 1940. He grew up in Charlestown and attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Commerce High School in Boston in 1958. He enlisted into the United States Army in September of 1959 and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged from the Army in 1961. He joined the International Longshoreman's Association and was a member of thier Union Local # 799 and worked at the Charlestown docks for a short period of time. He then joined the United States Postal Service and worked as a clerk at South Postal Annex in South Boston until his illness forced him to stop working. Buddy was a member of the Halligan Club of Charlestown.
Buddy is the beloved son of the late John and Esther (Foley) McCreevan. He is the devoted brother of Jack McCreevan and his wife Honey of Charlestown, Pauline O'Connor of Brighton and Richard McCreevan of Merrimac. He is the loving uncle of 1 nephew and several nieces.
Buddy's Funeral will be held on Tuesday July 25, 2006 at 9 am. from The Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited . Visiting hours for Buddy will be held on Monday July 24, 2006 from 4 to 8 pm. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
