Emma Joyce "Jo" Peak Hogan, 56, of Enigma passed away Saturday, April 6, 2002, at her home after a lengthy illness. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Pat Hale, the Rev. Marv Williams and the Rev. Murray Hand officiating. Mrs. Hogan was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Larry Crumley, Bobby Metts, Jason Griffin, William Brooks, Bennie Goddard and Kenneth Pearson served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Dalton Hayes, James Peters, Bill Ray, Charles Rowe, Ottis Stone, Ronald Stone, Donnie Pearson, Ken Holyoak, Jason Holyoak and Jimmy Akins.
Born May 2, 1945, in Randolph County, Mrs. Hogan was the daughter of the late Perry Daniel Peak and Bernie Faye Peak Jarrett. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, James Frank Jarrett. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Barnes Chapel in Enigma, where she was a Sunday School teacher and song leader. She graduated from Moultrie Tech with a degree in computer science; and she was a volunteer for Alapaha Head Start. She had lived in Enigma for 30 years.
Mrs. Hogan is survived by her husband, Thomas Lamar Hogan of Enigma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Clinton and Wendy Hoban of Tifton and Terry Lamar and Jenn Hogan of Dixie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Evangela and Gary Hampton of Tifton and Marie and Karl Lastinger of Springfield; six grandchildren, John Hampton, Michael Lastinger, Evan Lastinger, Tyler Hogan, Hanna Hogan and Heather Cole; and a special nephew and his family, Randy and Sherri Wells and Brad, Jonathan and Brandi, all of Alapaha.
