Obituary

Ronald Francis Barnes 86, of Friendswood, Texas passed away peacefully, Saturday June 1, 2024 at UTMB Health Clear Lake Campus, following an illness. He was the husband of the late Sandra Lee (Piere) Barnes, who died in 2003.

Born April 21, 1938, in Franklin, a son of the late Herbert F. And Helen Z. (Roy) Barnes he was a former resident of Franklin until relocating to Texas over 30 years ago.

He was raised and educated in Franklin, went to of Franklin High School and worked as a machinist for the former Clark Cutler McDermott Company in Franklin for 27 years and was a member of the Franklin Auxiliary Police for 17 years.

Ronald served in the United States Navy from 1956-1959,  and served aboard the USS Shenandoah.

He enjoyed spending most weekends with his camper and fishing pole and was eager to tell his stories about his adventures to anyone who would listen. A favorite place was Scusset Beach on Cape Cod.

Ron is survived by his children, Sharon Forte and her husband Chris, Rhonda Renaud and Robert Barnes and his wife Jamie, his sisters, Mae Barnes, Norma Lola and her husband Francis, Linda Rambaugh, and Nancy Connolly and her husband Martin.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Shawn Barnes, Corey Remillard, Stephanie Soto, Sarah Walsh, Molly Curwin, Toni Barnes, Robert Barnes, great grandchildren, Thomas, Addison and Hayden.

He was the father of the late Ronald M. Barnes and brother of the late Edgar Landry and Helen Armstrong.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Wednesday July 3rd, at the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. with visitation beginning at 9AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Franklin at 11AM.

Interment with military honors will be at the parish cemetery.
