Louis V. Vallesio, Jr.
Retired Belotti Oldsmobile Mechanic

TEWKSBURY: Louis Vincent Vallesio, Jr., age 89, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 24 years, formerly of Somerville, passed away at the Heatherwood Retirement Living Community on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

He was the beloved husband of Mary C. (Mastrangelo) Vallesio, who passed away on December 6, 2011.

Born in Somerville on April 4, 1935, he was the son of the late Luigi Vallesio and the late Mary (DiBiase) Vallesio.

Lou was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville Trade High School.

In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga.

Following his honorable discharge from active-duty service in 1957, he began working as an automobile mechanic for the former Belotti Oldsmobile Dealership in Somerville, where he worked for 30 years. After leaving Belotti’s, Lou went to work at Harvard University until his retirement.

Lou treasured spending time with his family. In addition, he enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching sports, as well as working around the house. He had the ability to fix almost anything.

He is the father of Louis E. Vallesio and his wife Catherine, of Littleton, Ann Marie Steele and her husband Ken, of Reading, Karen M. Daley and her husband Robert, of Tewksbury, and the late Christina M. Vallesio. He leaves six grandchildren, Serena Steele and her husband Christopher Giso, Eric Steele, Michelle Steele, Michael Daley and his wife Jennifer, Mark Daley and his wife Rachel, and Daniel Daley and his wife Marygrace Pier-Daley, five great grandchildren, Mary, Vivian, Josephine, Julian, and John Paul. He was the brother of Lois Cantino and her late husband Ralph, of Maynard and the late Anthony, Vincent, Francis, Steven, and Edward Vallesio. He leaves many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Thursday, June 13th, from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. at St. William Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury.
