CHICOPEE – Roger E. Fournier, 78, a lifelong resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, June 6, 2024. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on October 10, 1945, a beloved son of the late Charles W. and Ida A. (Chapdelaine) Fournier. He was raised in Aldenville, graduated from Precious Blood High School in Holyoke and had lived in Aldenville his entire life. He served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and attained the rank of Airman First Class. He was the owner and operator of Roger Fournier Plumbing and Heating and retired in 1994. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. During his leisure time, he was an avid golfer who enjoyed his many outings at Holyoke Country Club and Tekoa Country Club in Westfield. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Cecile C. (Verdon) Fournier. They were married on January 15, 1966 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Craig S. Fournier and his wife, Lynette, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Danielle C. Kemp and her husband, Chad, of Summerville, SC; his 4 cherished grandchildren, Braydon Fournier, Sharon Fournier, Dylan Kemp, and Hallie Youker and her husband, Michael; his cherished great granddaughter, Delilah Jean; his dear sister, Gloria Piela of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three dear brothers, Reverend W. Donald Fournier, Raymond G. Fournier, and Gerard A. Fournier; and his two dear sisters, Constance T. Rosinski and her husband, Chester, and Rita A. LeBlanc and her husband, Gerard. Roger’s family would like to thank Lisa Liu Metz of Germany for donating her stem cells eleven years ago which gave him the gift of an additional eleven years of life. His Funeral will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. before Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
