SPRING, TX - James Leo McMahon, age 80, a former Tewksbury resident, died Thursday
evening, July 20, at his Spring, Texas home, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Doris M.
(Dobbins) McMahon, with whom he had celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary last November
2nd.
He was born in Malden, MA, on January 8, 1926, a son of the late Oscar and Elizabeth
McMahon. He was raised in So. Boston, but lived the greater part of his life in Tewksbury. He
retired to Texas 18 years ago.
During WWII, he served in the Merchant Marines.
He retired from Liquid Carbonic Company’s Tewksbury Division after 48 years as truck driver.
As a resident of Tewksbury, he was a communicant of St. William’s Church, a member of the Fr.
Coppen’s Council, Knights of Columbus in Tewksbury, and the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks
Lodge, 2070.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James M. McMahon and his
wife Janet of Newport, NH, John J. McMahon and his wife Theresa of Port Charlotte, Fla.,
formerly Amherst, NH; eight grandchildren, James M. McMahon Jr. and Heather Lynn McMahon
both of Dallas, TX, Shaun P. McMahon of White River Junction, VT, Patricia M. McMahon of
Toronto, Canada, Veronica McMahon of Denver, CO, Michelle, Jack, and Thomas McMahon all
of Port Charlotte, Fl; two great grandchildren, Cody and Nolan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also father of the late Michael K. McMahon; and brother of the late Hillary, Robert and
Bernard McMahon and Alice Lewein.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, July 26, in St. William’s Church,
Tewksbury.
Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
