Deborah L. Bell, 74

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Deborah L. Bell, age 74, a lifelong resident of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Spaulding Nursing and Therapy Center in Brighton.

Born in New Britain, Connecticut on September 26, 1949, she was a loving daughter of the late Wilbur L. Bell and Florina L. (Graveline) McKenney and her husband Charles C. McKenney.

Debbie grew up and was educated in Mansfield, was a graduate of Braintree High School and continued her studies, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Art degree from Rhode Island College.

A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Debbie had been employed as a Social Worker for several nursing homes throughout her career. Debbie’s family was the key to her heart and her hobbies included being an accomplished knitter and a member of the Three Bags Full Knitting. Her other interests were playing golf with friends and traveling. Debbie and her family were active members at the former Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Mansfield.

She is survived by her devoted children: Michael D. Washburn and his wife Karen of Attleboro, Michelle R. Washburn and her longtime companion Jay Wilson of Mansfield and Marc D. Washburn of Arizona. She was the dear sister of Mary Ellen Winsor and her husband Wayne of North Attleboro, Shawn M. Bell and his longtime companion Karen Chandler of Norton, Kevin P. Bell and his wife Susan of Winthrop, Maine and Charlene M. Sudore and her husband Stephen of Georgetown, Tennessee. She is also survived by her cherished 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons, as well as her much-loved nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a service in celebration of her life on Friday, July 26th at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, 116 South Street, Foxborough. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, Deborah’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450, Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
