Louis R. Salemi, 78, died Tuesday, July 18, at his home in Stoughton under the care of Old Colony Hospice. He was the husband of Carmela (Giachinta) Salemi. Born in Chelsea, he attended Chelsea Schools. He also attended night school. He was a resident of Stoughton for 31 years after living in Malden for several years. Mr. Salemi was a WWII Veteran of the US Army Air Corps. Mr. Salemi worked as a meat cutter for Supreme Market in Dorchester and Quincy for many years and at Capitol Market for about 15 years. He also worked at Pages Market in Stoughton. He was a member of the VFW in Stoughton and a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Chelsea. In his free time, he enjoyed singing and traveling to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.
In addition to his wife Carmela, Mr. Salemi is survived by his children, Joseph L. Salemi of Stoughton and Jane D. Potter of VT. He was the brother of Mary Stibile and Jennie Ciccolo both of Bridgewater. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, July 24 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday, 2-6 PM. Burial will be at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
