Elbert Griffin, 77, of Albany passed away Thursday, September 26, 2002, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2002, at Enigma Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Martin Wilson officiating. Mr. Griffin was laid to rest at Enigma Cemetery.
Mr. Griffin's grandsons, Nathan Griffin, Brent Griffin, Robert Griffin, Julian Griffin, Philip Griffin, Thomas Grae Griffin, Matthew Griffin and Shaun Wright served as pallbearers.
Born September 25, 1925, in Berrien County, Mr. Griffin was the son of the late George Manning Griffin and Rebecca Webb Griffin. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Before retiring, he was a self-employed salesman in the food products industry; and he was a member of Enigma Congregational Christian Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy; and he had lived in Dougherty County most of his life.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Mildred Harris Griffin of Albany; three sons, Dan Griffin of Albany, Grayson Griffin of Sylvester and Tommy Griffin of Cumming; two brothers, George Griffin of Nashville and Mitchell Griffin of Sylvester; three sisters, Doris Jernigan of Albany, Florie Hester of Nashville and Mellie Usry of LaPlace, Louisiana; and nine grandchildren.
