Edith M. Mercurio, age 87, a Medford resident for close to seventy years past away July 18th at the Woburn Nursing Center following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore Mercurio. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Virginia (Miranda) Racca.
Mrs. Mercurio was a devoted wife and mother. She worked for many years with her late husband, together they owned and operated Frank´s Variety Store in South Boston.
Mrs. Mercurio is survived by her daughters; Kathleen Mercurio of Stoneham, Judith McCarthy and her husband James of Somerville, Virginia Azzolino and her husband Nicholas of Carver. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Claire and William McCarthy, Nicole Disa and her husband Michael, Joseph and Angela Azzolino and Great Grandson Nicolas Disa. She is further survived by her sisters Rita Donahue and Florence Gigliello both of Medford. She is preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Racca, Susan Iacono, Olga Kelly, and Evelyn O´Malley.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Friday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church 71 Warner St. Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 7. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
