Obituary

Robert “Bob” Burman, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday May 24, 2024, from health complications after a courageous, three-year battle with cancer while surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne, their three children, and four grandchildren. Bob's spirit carries on through his son Matthew, his wife Kate, their children Ryleigh and Myles, daughter Tamara, and son Christopher, fiancée Sarina Tom and their children Camila and Kyler. Bob also leaves behind a brother Johan Bjurman, wife Miriam and their two sons Scott and James Bjurman .

Born on May 6, 1950, in North Providence, RI, he was a son of the late Paul and Dorothy (Norris) Burman. Bob was a graduate of North Providence High School class of 1968 and earned his degree from Community College of Rhode Island. Bob met the love of his life, Suzanne (Turcotte) Burman, when she was working as a visiting nurse attending to his mother, Dorothy “Dot” Burman. Bob and Sue were married on November 27, 1982 and planted their family roots in Woonsocket. Bob worked as an electrical designer at Maguire Group for over 20 years, but he would tell you his greatest accomplishment and his true “life’s work” was his three children. A proud father, he wanted to spend all his free time with his family. According to them, Bob was their first teacher and coach for all the sports and hobbies the young Burmans were involved in: swimming, skating, hockey, and golf to name a few.

If you met Bob, you’d know him as a kind, quiet, gentle, supportive, soft-spoken man. Though he didn’t speak loudly or often, he listened intently and often had valuable advice, cracking a witty joke when you least expected it. A busy man always on the move, you could find Bob always working on something in the house or on the cars. He spent many happy days on the ski slopes, biking the streets and paths of Rhode Island, riding and kayaking the waves at Narragansett beach, swimming or working out at the local Y. But of all the activities Bob loved, his favorite job was being a dad and grandfather. “Pep” loved his grandchildren Camila, Kyler, Myles and Ryleigh. Bob's gentle and loving nature is something his entire family will forever carry with them.

All are welcome to honor, remember and celebrate Bob’s life during visiting hours on Saturday, June 1st between 9:00am and 12:00pm at Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Avenue, Woonsocket. A prayer service will be held during visiting hours at 11:00am. Burial will be private at a later date.
The family would like to express their profound gratitude for the excellent care Bob received in his final days. In honor and recognition of that care the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Health Hulitar Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
