Obituary

Travis Brantley, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, May 18, 2024, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, May 20, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Chuck Taylor and the Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Brantley was born March 10, 1943, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Robert Guy & Louise Dumas Brantley. A graduate of Irwin County High School, he earned his degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He retired as a conductor with CSX Railroad with 37 years of service and was also a farmer. He was a member of Irwinville Lodge #315 F.&A.M. and the Hasan Shrine. Mr. Brantley was an avid fisherman and a member and deacon of Englewood Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son, Jess Brantley & Dee of Ocilla; his significant other, Tina Baldwin; grandchildren: Anna Leigh Brantley and Jess Austin Brantley; a brother, Charles Brantley & Pat of Ashburn; a sister, Gail McDonald & Carroll of Fitzgerald; nieces and nephews: Jan, Belinda, Dana, Jason, Shanna, Shawn, Whitney, Holly, Mel, Sherry, Rhonda, Debbie and Steven; great-nephews, Terry Jared, and Alex; and a great-niece, Kaleigh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Maxine Clements Brantley; siblings: Gene, Melvin, Alene, Marvelle, and 3 infant siblings; and a niece, Teresa Brantley Davis.

Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
