Obituary

FORD, Joseph A. Ret. Massachusetts State Trooper and former MDC Police Officer, of Readville, and Green Harbor, formerly of Roslindale, passed away on May 14, 2024, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved son of the late James (BFD Ret) and Ada (Gallagher) Ford. Devoted father of Michele Cummings and her husband John of Walpole, Joseph A. Ford Jr. (BFD, Engine 2) of Dorchester, and Jennifer Bergin and her husband Leo of Quincy. Loving Papa of Katie, Bridget, and Nora Cummings, Josh Bergin and his wife Erin, Ryan (U.S. Navy), Lea, Eleanor, and Noah Bergin. Great Papa of Brody Bergin. Brother of David Ford of Newton, and the late James Ford (BFD), and Jack Ford. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Joe was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, U.S. Army.

Visiting hours will be held at the P.E. Murray - F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 2000 Centre St. West Roxbury on Sunday, May 19th from 1-5pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday, May 20th at 10am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anne’s Church, Readville at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Mt. Benedict Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Joseph’s memory to the Last Call Foundation or to The Ed Walsh Foundation.
