TEWKSBURY- Shirley (Doyle ) McAllister, age 74, died peacefully at her home surrounded by
her family on Monday night, July 17. She was the beloved wife of Joseph T. “Tom” McAllister,
with whom she would have celebrated a 52nd wedding anniversary on October 17th.
She was born in Malden on October 2, 1931, a daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred
(Woolner) Doyle. She was raised in Cambridge and Somerville, but had resided in Tewksbury
since 1975.
Mrs. McAllister worked as a bookkeeper for Undercover Wear.
She was lovingly described by her family as having devoted her life to her family.
Besides her husband she is also survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl L Glejzer
and her husband Robert of Gilford, NH, Colleen M. Edgett and her husband Britt of Tewksbury,
Sharlene M. Gately and her husband Glen of Haverhill; one son Joseph Thomas McAllister Jr. of
Newburyport; one brother William Breault of Somerville; eight grandchildren; Shaylan Glejzer,
Brittany, Mindy, and Lindsey Edgett, Joseph F. , and Liam McAllister, Ryan and Stevi-Lynn
Gately.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, July 22, in St. William’s
Church, Tewksbury. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to: the Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian
Cancer Register, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Elm and Carlton Sts., Buffalo, NY, 14263;
