...Loving Mother And Grandmother And A Caring Friend To All Who Were Fortunate To Know Her.
SEBASTIAN, FL – Ruth Ada (Ellis) (Silveira) Bosco, age 89, died Monday evening, July 17, 2006 at the Life Care Center of Port St. Lucie, after a long period of declining health.
Born February 21, 1917 at her family home in Carlisle, MA., Ruth was the 2nd child born to Charles & Rose (Silva) Ellis. She spent most of her youth in Somerville, MA and graduated from Somerville High School. Then she moved to Medford, MA where she raised her children. As a young mother Ruth began meeting weekly with other mothers for a ‘night out’ of coffee, dessert, knitting/sewing and conversation, this continued for over 40 years! In her later years she divided her time between a home in Sebastian, FL and a cottage on Sunset Lake in Hampstead, NH.
Ruth attended several business schools in the Boston area and was proud to achieve the position of Executive Secretary at H.K. Porter Company in Somerville, MA. She was also an accomplished seamstress and avid traveler, taking many trips across the U.S. including Hawaii.
Ruth had a special fondness for children, in addition to raising her own seven children, she was a foster mother and care provider for dozens of underprivileged children. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sharing with them her sence of humor, love of nature including flowers and the sea, her skills of knitting and crocheting, board/card games and her passion for sweets.
She was the wife of the late Santo Bosco, who died in 1970, and was the companion of Anthony Capone for over 25 years, until his death in 1996. Ruth was predeceased by her first husband John E. Silveira and her brothers Charles Oakley and Joseph Ellis.
She is survived by her seven children, Camille Drennan and her husband Dennis of Stuart, FL, Joan Unger and her husband William of Tewksbury, MA, Priscilla Myers-Paquette and her husband Conrad of North Hutchinson Island, FL, Judith Sullivan and her husband Patrick of Austin, TX, Eleanor Silveria and her husband Gary Robinson of Sebastian, FL, John Silveira of Gold Beach, OR and Michael Bosco and his wife Virginia “Ginny” of Plymouth, NH. Other survivors include a brother, Richard Ellis of Limerick, ME, brother and sister-in-law James and Eleanor Drake of Medford, MA, sister-in-law Bette Ellis of Rapid City, So.Dakota, twenty-four grandchildren, and twenty-three great grandchildren.
A celebration of Ruth’s life washeld Tuesday, July 25 in the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, So. Tewksbury, MA. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetary, Medford.
