Obituary

Walter E. Byk, 86, of Manchester, died July 14, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Manchester after a lengthy illness.

He was born in New Bedford, MA, November 4, 1919, and was the son of John and Mary (Bender) Byk. He had been a Manchester resident for more than 40 years.

He served in the US Army during World War II as an airplane and engine mechanic. In that capacity he was responsible for the inspection, cleaning, repairs and unit replacement to the structures and power plants of military aircraft.

He retired several years ago after working many years in various manufacturing facilities.

He was married to Dorothy (Stanhope) Byk, who died in 1982. In addition he was predeceased by a son, Walter Byk.

Family members include a daughter, Jean, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nephews.



A graveside service was held Monday July 18, 2006 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Rd., Manchester.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, was in charge of arrangements.
