WORCESTER___Irene A. (Shyp) Yankowskas, 89, of Worcester, passed away Friday April 26, 2024 in Knollwood Nursing Center, West Boylston. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, George, in 2011.
Irene leaves a daughter, Patricia Paradise and her husband, Earl of Worcester; three sons, Paul Yankowskas and his wife, Alison of Londonderry, NH., James Yankowskas and his wife, Rebecca of Westford and Mark Yankowskas and his wife, Janean of Bradenton, FL., six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her lifetime friend, Joan Lawrence. Irene was predeceased by two sisters, Harriet Bialecki and Theresa Stachura. Irene was born in Worcester a daughter of the late Bernard and Rose (Kostrzeba) Shyp and has lived here all of her life. Irene graduated from St. Mary's High School.
Mrs. Yankowskas was a bookkeeper for many years for E. L. Harvey & Sons, Inc and retired some years ago. Irene loved Hampton Beach and being with her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Tuesday May 7, 2024 in the funeral home before the Mass.
