Obituary

Mary T. Medeiros (Maria de Deus Tavares de Brum)

Mary T. Medeiros (Maria de Deus Tavares de Brum), 85 of Lowell, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 27, 2024. She was the widow of the late Joseph T. Medeiros with whom she shared 53 years together before he passed away in 2011.

Mary was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal on April 5, 1939 and was a daughter of the late Eugene T. Brum and the late Angelina T. (Perreira) Brum. Mary was raised and educated in Sao Miguel, Azores. In 1968, she relocated to the United States, shortly after her husband joined her and they built a home and started a beautiful family in Lowell, setting the stage for a life filled with love and cherished memories. Mary was the heart of our home and family,

Mary started working at a young age as a nanny for three years prior to working as a homemaker assisting families in Sao Miguel, Azores. Mary was a master Portuguese cook in the Azores. Mary also worked at Pleasant Dress for 4 years where she made wonderful friendships and learned to speak English, Empire Linen for 14 years, and Commodore Foods for 5 years. Her contributions to her employers and the families she assisted were invaluable, reflecting her strong work ethic and caring nature.

Mary was a devoted communicant at St. Anthony Church, where she attended mass every Sunday. Mary was a member of the Holy Ghost Society and enjoyed attending the many Portuguese feasts with her family. Mary loved cooking Portuguese food for everyone who entered her home. Mary's greatest joy came from time spent with her loving family, particularly her six grandchildren whose presence brought her immense happiness, joy, and fulfillment. Mary was a kind, sweet, caring, compassionate, and beautiful woman who always tried to help others before herself. She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be dearly missed.

Borodawka and her husband, James of Lowell; her grandchildren, Joseph Medeiros of Lowell, Lindsey Soucy and her husband, Todd of Dracut, Charles Medeiros of Lowell, Matthew Medeiros of Lowell, Alexya Medeiros of Lowell, and Jameson Borodawka of Lowell; and her sweet great granddaughter Mila James Soucy of Dracut.
