Elvie Sue Sweat Duren, 74, of Tifton passed away Friday. February 8, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was eld at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Glenn Ford officiating. Mrs. Duren was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Duren's family friends served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Calvary Baptist Church in Tifton.
Born February 24k 1927, in Tift County, Mrs. Duren was the daughter of the late Preston Clayton Sweat and Bertha Hancock Sweat. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Duren, Sr. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mrs. Duren is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Hobert "Butch" Jr. and Cathy Duren of Albany, Leroy and Judy Duren of Kentucky and Mitch Duren of North Carolina; one daughter, Rebecca Chapman of Virginia; one sister, Dores Janet Sweat of Tifton; and several grandchildren.
