
Mr. Salvatore M. Prestia, age 73, of Stoneham formerly of Medford, passed away July 13th in his home following a lengthy illness. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Michael and Frances (Piazza) Prestia.
Mr. Prestia was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He served form 1950 to 1952.
Mr. Prestia was a retired barber and worked for over thirty years at his shop in Malden. Over the years he enjoyed traveling, gambling and fishing. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. 2nd floor, Framingham, MA 01701.
Mr. Prestia is survived by his daughter, Donna Gatti and her husband Peter of Revere, sons, Michael Prestia and his wife kathy of Danvers, Paul Prestia and his wife Marcia of Westford. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jennifer Lanes, Peter Gatti, Michael, Nathan, Paul and Amy Prestia and great granddaughter Briana Lanes. He is further survived by his sister Catherine Valvo of Naples, FL, and brothers, Leonard Prestia of Melrose and Charles Prestia of Chelmsford.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Tuesday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St. Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
