Obituary

Myrtie Lee Rahn Carter, 94, of Tifton passed away Sunday, January 6, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Eddie Hutcheson, the Rev. Hershel Collins and Tim Paulk officiating. Mrs. Carter was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Charles Williams, Chuck Carter, Billy Johnson, Bob Gartman, Bill Brimberry and Jeff Snyder served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the McCord Sunday School Class at Trinity United Methodist Church in Tifton and Mrs. Carter;s friends from Southern Care Retirement Home in Tifton.

Born November 6, 1907, in Waycross, Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late Carroll Hutchinson Rahn and Sarah Aurelia Harley Rahn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles O'Neal Carter; one son, Charles Carroll Carter, Sr.; and two brothers, Rinney Fred Rahn and John Lee Rahn. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Tifton.

Mrs. Carter is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Singleton and Mary Carter of Van Buren, Arkansas and George Lee and Julia Free Carter of Doerun; one daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Edd Paulk of Tifton; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
