Cecil Edward Cherry, 77, of Tifton passed away Thursday, January 17, 2002, at Tift Health Care. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Paul Anderson and the Rev. N. C. Spradley officiating. Mr. Cherry was laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Sylvester.
Roger Cherry, Billy Joel Cherry, Brad Harrelson, Robert Coker, David Cherry and Daniel Cherry served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Jones, William Little, Jeff Lancaster, William Lancaster, Earl Robinson and Billy Busbee.
Born August 17, 1924, in Dublin, Mr. Cherry was the son of the late William Clyde Cherry and Georgia Rix Cherry. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Allen Cherry; one son, Cecil Lee Cherry; two brothers, Hubert Cherry and S. T. Cherry; and one sister, Ruby Kearce. He was a retired farmer; and he was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Cherry is survived by two sons, Bobby Cherry of Ty Ty and Danny Cherry of Dublin; three daughters, Ann Coker of McRae, Dianne Robinson of Sumner and Peggy Lancaster of Milan; three brothers, Talmadge Cherry of Albany, John Cherry of Ty Ty and J. L. Cherry of Dublin; two sisters, Mary Flowers of Albany and Reba Crabb of Dublin; twenty grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and fourteen nieces and nephews.
