Betty Lou Mashburn Chambless, 65, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at Tift Health Care. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2002, at Carpenter Road Church of God with the Rev. Ronnie Luke officiating. Mrs. Chambless was laid to rest at Waterloo Cemetery.
Darrell Bennett, Ferrell Bennett, Mike Nelson, Brad Grubbs, Geedie Simmons and Henry Harnage served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Wing II-B at Tift Health Care.
Born December 2, 1937, in Tift County, Mrs. Chambless was the daughter of Lucille Matthews Mashburn of Tifton and the late Doyle William Mashburn. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Ray Chambless; and one daughter, Bertha Lou Mobley. Before retiring, she was a salesperson at a local department store; and she was a member of Carpenter Road Church of God. She had lived in Tift County her entire life.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Chambless is survived by three sons, David Mobley of Ashburn, Randy Mobley of Tifton and Danny Mobley of Sycamore; one daughter, Janice Ethridge of Tifton; two brothers, Royce Mashburn of Michigan and Carlton Mashburn of Tifton; three sisters, Marie Luna of Michigan, Brenda Bennett of Sparks and Bertha Ann Grubbs of Tifton; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
