Obituary

Luella Roark Losey, 79, died peacefully April 23, 2024, at Belmont Manor Nursing Center in Belmont, MA surrounded by family, friends, and the caregivers that so lovingly cared for her over the past 4 years.

Luella was predeceased by her parents Mary Wilma (Carty) Roark and Herman Roark, as well as her beloved son Geoffrey Losey. Luella is survived by her daughter, Heather Losey, and son-in-law, David Ehmann, along with three granddaughters Caroline, Erin, and Theresa, all of Lexington, MA.

Luella was born and raised in Kentucky and Ohio, and after receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Kentucky (Go Cats!), she taught science in middle and high school. She retired from her long education career teaching her favorite subject, chemistry, at Walton High School in Marietta, GA. Luella lived in Sandy Springs, GA for more than 40 years of her adult life, where she was a devout member of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church, singing in the choir, and celebrating many wonderful friendships within her church family. The last 7+ years were spent near her daughter, Heather, in Massachusetts, enjoying visits from her granddaughters and the company of her orange tabby cat, Reggie.

Always putting others before herself, Luella was a devoted caretaker to her son, Geoffrey, during his childhood leukemia battle. She displayed tremendous strength through many trials and tribulations, always positive, kind, and fiercely independent despite living with disabilities resulting from Multiple Sclerosis.

A Celebration of Life for Luella will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 2pm at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church in Sandy Springs, GA, and she will be interred in Arlington Memorial Park alongside her son, Geoffrey.
