Dorothy Williams Burdette, 81, of Tifton passed away Tuesday. September 3, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A local funeral service was held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Terrell Roberts and Bruce Roberts officiating. Another service was held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2002, at Hew Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Mrs. Burdette was laid to rest at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayetteville.
Mrs. Burdette's grandsons served as pallbearers.
born July 30, 1921, in Fayette County, Mrs. Burdette was the daughter of the late Goban Williams and Sally Elizabeth Harris Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Roy Hiram Burdette, who passed away in 2000. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Anderson Memorial Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Burdette is survived by three sons, Robert Burdette of Newville, Alabama, Jimmy Burdette of Tifton and Larry Burdette of Savannah; two daughters, Helen Walker of Tifton and Beverly Cox of Woodstock; two brothers, Leonard Williams of Griffin and Ernest Williams, Jr. of Tyron; four sisters, Margaret Burdette, Evelyn Williams, Doris Watson and Cathlene Bray, all of Fayetteville; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
