B. J. Blount, 82, of Lenox passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2002, at Lenox Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamar Harris, the Rev. Wayne Simpson and the Rev. Ray Dawson officiating. Mr. Blount was laid to rest at Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County.
Kevin Blount, Scott Blount, Rodney Blount, Lee Pittman, Fred Sellars and Randy Sellars served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were John Overman, Mark Peele, Terry Butler, Jason Golden and J. C. Bryan.
Born October 22, 1919, in Tift County, Mr. Blount was the son of the late Joseph Allen Blount and Annie Gibbs Blount. He was also preceded in death by one son, Alden Blount; two brothers, Jodie Blount and Clayton Blount; and four sisters, Bessie Goff, Polly Rutland, Jessie Lee Clements and Ada Belle Baker. Before retiring, he was a maintenance technician at Tifton Aluminum Company; and he was a member of Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado. He had lived in Lenox for 26 years; and he was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Blount is survived by his wife, Audrey Stembridge Blount of Lenox; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Wanda Blount of Lenox; a daughter-in-law, Ellen Blount of Orlando, Florida; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
