Coach Malcolm Eugene Brodie, 60, of Tifton passed away Friday, May 31, 2002, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. A memorial service was held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Brodie Field in Tifton with the Rev. Mike Faulk and Father Juan Lopez officiating. Eulogies were given by Clay Shiver and Steve Dennis. Coach Brodie was laid to rest at 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, at Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery in Kitchings Mill, South Carolina.

Born December 24, 1941, in Springfield, South Carolina, Coach Brodie was the son of Norma Gleaton Brodie of Salley, South Carolina and the late Malcolm Bradford Brodie. Before retiring, he was the head football coach for the Tift County Blue Devils; and he had lived in Tifton for 26 years. He was a member of the Macon Hall of Fame and was inducted in 2002; and he was a member of the Georgia Athletic Directors Association. He was named Coach of the Yars in 1975 and 1983.
Coach Brodie is survived by his wife, Glenda "Ginger" Lawson Brodie of Tifton; one son, Malcolm Brooks Brodie of Tifton; two daughters, Gena Brodie of Palm Coast, Florida and Stacey Brodie Cooper of Tifton; one brother, Charles Bradford Brodie of Aiken, South Carolina; two sisters, Muriel Brodie of Luling, Louisiana and Barbara Brodie Murphy of Eutauville, South Carolina; and one grandson, Brodie Cooper.
