Allen Lee Brinkley, 72, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Terrell Roberts and the Rev. Glenn Ford officiating. Mr. Brinkley was laid to rest at Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County.
Dick hart, Ronnie Young, Jim Slusmeyer, Danny Griner, Freddy Walker, Ronnie Fowler, Zane Hutchinson and Jamie Cater served as pallbearers.
Born November 15, 1929, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, Mr. Brinkley was the son of the late Walter Brinkley and Mildred Swartz Brinkley. Before retiring, he was a design engineer with the Georgia Department of Transporation; and he was a member of Tift Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Brinkley is survived by his wife, Beatrice Gentry Brinkley of Tifton; two sons, Nicky Brinkley and Jody Brinkley, both of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Jack Plusquellec of Sharon, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren, Heather Brinkley, Kelli Brinkley and Benjamin Brinkley.
