Johnny Ray Boyd, Sr., 36, of Tifton passed away Saturday, December 14, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Eddie Hutcheson and the Rev. John S. Gibbs, Sr. officiating. Mr. Boyd was laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery.
Darran Smith, Ben Crum, Joe Payne, Boy Foreman, Jason pardon, Thomas Boyd, Jimmy Kersey, Man Boyd, Pee-Wee Boyd, Amanda Phillips, Joey Peacock, Kenny Cannady and Phillip Boyd served as pallbearers.
Born January 28, 1966, in Tampa, Florida, Mr. Boyd was the son of the late Bill Boyd and Lois Purvis Boyd. He was also preceded in death by one brother, John Allen Boyd. He was the block plant foreman for 17 years at Double A Concrete in Tifton. He had been a resident of Tifton for 33 years.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Janet Wilmot Boyd of Tifton; three sons, Steven Ray Wilmot of Ozark, Alabama, Johnny Ray Boyd, II and Paul Thomas Boyd, both of Tifton; six brothers, W. T. Boyd, and Jimmy Boyd, both of Enigma, Ernest Boyd of Norman Park, Kenneth Boyd of Blairsville and Larry Boyd and Ronnie Boyd, both of Tifton; five sisters, Betty Heald of Norman Park, Barbara Payne of Lenox and Darlene Foreman, Susie Crum and Flossie Boyd, all of Enigma; 35 nieces and nephews; and 24 great-nieces and great-nephews.
