John William Walker, 83, of Ty Ty passed away Friday, January 17, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty with the Rev. Danny Jones officiating. Mr. Walker was laid to rest at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty Cemetery.
Mitchell Cook, Jason Cook, Reggie Cook, Joe Walker, Chad Walker, Heath Barry, Grant Barry, Frank Baker, Jamie Harris, Mick Helms and Allan Parrish served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty.
Born June 25, 1919, in Worth County, Mr. Walker was the son of the late Charles A. Walker and Lula Mae Devane Walker. He was also preceded in death by two sisters. He was a farmer; and he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty. He had lived in Ty Ty his entire life.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Edwina Walker of Ty Ty; three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Pat Walker, Larry and Sharon Walker and Gary and Rhonda Walker, all of Ty Ty; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Jimmy Cook of Ty Ty and Kathy and Jerry Baker of Chula; one sister, Eva Ruth of Lakeland, Florida; fifteen grandchildren, Stephanie Clements, Mitchell Cook, Jason Cook, Reggie Cook, Joe Walker, Chad Walker, Nikki Weaver, Stauna Chambless, Amy Tinsley, Heath Barry, Grant Barry, Frank Baker, Kara Baker, Jamie Harris and Mick Helms; and eight graet-grandchildren.
