Charlie Ackridge Walker, Jr., 90, of Tifton passed away Sunday, August 3, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Tifton. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. John S. Gibbs, Sr. officiating. Mr. Walker was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Born August 11, 1912, in Social Circle, Mr. Walker was the son of the late Charlie Ackridge Walker, Sr. and Edna Stanton Walker. He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Edna Mae Royal Walker, who passed away on March 28, 2002; his only son, Charles Wallace Walker; and one grandson, Gregory Thomas Walker. Before retiring, he was an attendant at Atwater's Shell Station in Tifton. He enjoyed selling and trading all types of cars; and his favorite hobby was visiting flea markets. He had lived most of his life in Tifton.
Mr. Walker is survived by a daughter-in-law, Joyce Walker Hapeman of Arab, Alabama; a sister-in-law, Bessie Royal of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, Victoria Walker and Sherri Walker, both of New York, Linda Erkiletian of Virginia, Charles Timothy Walker of Colorado and Brian Keith Walker of Tifton; the wife of his deceased grandson, Cindy Walker Black of Tifton; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
