Wilson McDuffy Ward, 84, of Tifton passed away Friday. August 15, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2003, at Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Judy White and the Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating. Mr. Ward was laid to rest at Mount Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Tifton.
James Walker, Charles Swain, Tommy Johnson, Austin Goodman, Pete Haman and Franklin Haman served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Mr. Ward's grandchildren.
Born September 30, 1918, in Cook County, Mr. Ward was one of a set of triplets, born to the late David Patrick Ward and Ruby Scofill Ward. He was also preceded in death by and infant son; six brothers; and two sisters. He was a retired farmer, having farmed in Tift County for 65 years; and he was a member of Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Tifton.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maggie Stembridge Ward of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Donnie and Ramona Ward of Tifton and Ray Ward of Gainesville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jean and Floyd E. Bailey of Montgomery, Alabama and Clarice and James T. Phillips of Tifton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Audie and Susan Bailey of Orlando, Florida, Dawn and Jimmy Fain of Montgomery, Alabama and Kim and Kurt Seigler and Dr. Jay and Leigh Phillips, all of Tifton; and six great-grandchildren, Jay Fain of Montgomery, Alabama, Maggie and Taylor Bailey of Orlando, Florida and Chip and Alex Seigler and Hayden Phillips, all of Tifton.
