Obituary

Cecil Lavelle Williams, 75, of Tifton passed away Monday, June 23, 2003, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Terrell Roberts and the Rev. Robert Williams officiating. Mr. Williams was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Tim Williams, Buddy Giddens, Mike Giddens, Eric Giddens, Buddy Deloach and Bruce Richardson served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Tiftarea Ministerial Association, Dr. Richard McCullough and the staff members of Hospice of Tift Area.

Born March 30, 1928, in Worth County, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Romie Williams and Nettie Giddens Williams. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Before retiring, he was a radiator repairman; and he was a member of Tift Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. In the early 1970s, he was ordained as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Tifton; and he drove the kindergarten bus for Calvary Baptist Church in Tifton.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Faye King Williams of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Kathy Williams of Tifton; two daughters, Joy Williams of Enigma and Jan Williams of Tifton; one brother, Coy Williams of Poulan; two sisters, Merle Ann Williams Martin of Pelham and betty Sue Marshall of Lakeland, Florida; and eight grandchildren, Erica Landers, Danielle Williams, D. J. Williams, Karrah Williams, Josh Williams, Jared McMillan, Jacob Williams and John Langdale.
