Joseph “Bumpa” J. Sergi, 78, of Hanson passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024. He was the beloved husband to the late Catherine M. (O’Connor) Sergi.
Joe was born on October 17, 1945 in Dorchester, son to the late Peter and Mary (Cervera) Sergi. He graduated from Dorchester High School and went on to further his education at Fisher College. Joe was a self-employed accountant, having worked in the field for forty years.
In Joe’s free time he enjoyed fishing, collecting old coins, spoiling his grand-dogs (Sabrina, Holly, and Paisley), and took great pride in spending time with his grandchildren. If you had to use one word to describe joe it would be selfless, he was always there for everyone.
Joseph will be deeply missed by all who knew him, he leaves behind his daughter Lori (Sergi) Larkin and her husband Sean of Whitman. His four grandchildren, Christina, Ryan, Allison, and Nicholas Larkin. Joseph also leaves behind his sister, Kathleen Riley of Avon. As well as his two nieces, Kerri Ansello and Kimberly Riley.
Family and friends are invited to Joe’s visiting hours Monday, April 29th from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 30th at 10:00 AM in the funeral chapel, with a burial to follow at Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson.
