Obituary

Lois Luke Swails, 70, of Alapaha passed away Monday, January 13, 2003, at Portsbridge Hospice in Woodstock. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Bobby Fussell officiating. Mrs. Swails was laid to rest at Saint Luke Baptist Church Cemetery in Alapaha.

Tim Hall, Ronnie Hall, Randy Swails, Bobby Coggins, Wesley Luke and Larry Hayes served as pallbearers.

Born February 15, 1932, in Berrien County, Mrs. Swails was the daughter of the late Pearlie Luke and Rosalee Jowers Luke. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James. W. Swails, who passed away in 1997; and one sister. She retired from ECI Electronics in 1987 as an engineer assistant and instructor and moved back to Alapaha; and she was a member of Saint Luke Baptist Church in Alapaha.

Mrs. Swails is survived by four daughters, Peggy E. McMahan and Betty S. Walter, both of Woodstock, Sherry A. Hart of Saint Petersburg, Florida and Brenda L. Summerlin of Greenville, South Carolina; two brothers, Glynnwood Luke of Nashville and Winston Luke of Alapaha; three sisters, Alstine Swails of Enigma, Barbara Rose of Tifton and Bobbie McGrady of Saint Petersburg, Florida; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
