James Thomas Simpson, 59, of Tifton passed away Thursday, January 2, 2003, at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. His funeral was held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. A. D. Connell officiating. Mr. Simpson was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Employees of the Maintenance Department at Prestolite Wire in Tifton served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the men of New River Free Holiness Church in Berrien County.
Born May 4, 1943, in Tift County, Mr. Simpson was the son of the late Curtis Simpson and Leonia Goddard Simpson. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mavis Purvis. He retired from Prestolite Wire in Tifton; and he was a member of New River Free Holiness Church in Berrien County.
Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Katie Jean Moore Simpson of Tifton; three daughters and one son-in-law, Jeannie and Chip Drawdy, Julie Snow and Jana Barnard, all of Tifton; three brothers, L. C. Simpson, Joe Simpson and Randall Simpson, all of Tifton; and six grandsons, Drew, James, Tyler, Hunter, Clayton and Devin.
