Obituary

Lucy Ann Gibbon, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on April 21, 2024 at the Whidden Hospital in Everett. She was 88 years old.

Beloved and cherished wife of the late George Gibbon, loving sister and best friend to Marion of Quincy and Charlestown, her brothers, the late John Houlihan, James Houlihan and her late sisters, Rose Newton and Bridget Thornton.

Lucy leaves behind many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who loved her dearly. Her kitchen had an open door to all of them and was always ready to serve a cup of tea or a glass of Tang.

Lucy loved to garden both at her house on Park Street and later Bolton Place and shared her love of flowers with friends and family. She enjoyed this hobby along with her neighbors on Bolton Place and cherished their friendship.

Throughout Lucy’s life she loved animals, taking in strays to give them a loving home, especially her dogs Hector and Humphrey and her many cats, especially Fancy.

Lucy loved the simple things in life, keeping family and friends close. Lucy’s family would like everyone to know how special she was. She will be missed.

There will be no services for Lucy but her life will be celebrated by her family at a later date.
