New Bedford – Grace C. (Barros) Lopes age 82 died Friday July 14, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John A. Lopes who pasted April 6, 1962. She was the mother of John A. Lopes Jr. of New Bedford, Antone Soares Lopes, Dwayne A. Lopes both of Houston, TX., Paul J. Lopes, Rosanna M. Lopes, Barbara Lopes-Afonso, and Lisa J. Lopes all of New Bedford. She was the sister of Antonio “Chickie” Barros, Carlos Barros Jr., Aquinalda “Gigi” Barros and John Barros all of CT., Judith Brito of New Bedford, Emma Deis of CT., Theresa Carvalho of New Bedford, Alda Radcliffe, and Cecelia Barros both of CT. She was also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews.
Mrs. Lopes was the daughter of the late Carlos and Autilia (Carvalho) Barros. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. She as a member of the United Social Club Women’s Auxiliary.
Mrs. Lopes funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Thursday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 10:30 A.M.
