Obituary

Michael A. Gilbert USMC [SS]
He did 25 years 10 months in service to his country as a 2nd generation Navy. His love for the Navy and the submarine force was something he cherished. He serviced on the USS Lapon, USS Seawolf, USS Scamp, USS George Washington Carver (Blue), and USS Topeka. He was also was selected for the Air Force Senior Non Commissioned Academy. He helped to write the submarine curricular and instructions standards office manual (CISO) for all subs which we believe is still being used today at the NAV SUB School.

His other great love was teaching middle school science over in New London as well as in Bridgeport Connecticut. He was very happy to be involved with his business of Naval & Military Collectables. He cherished meeting everyone and loved his life.

His surviving family as stands is his beloved wife Mary, his daughter Cynthia Gilbert-Kucsera, and his six grandchildren Christopher-John Tyler Dominique, Coral Kucsera, Savanna Kucsera, Skye, Storm, and Kody. As well as his surviving sister Sandy Mattesich of Stockton, California.

Michael's family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, April 28, from 2 to 4pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. Private burial with full military honors will be held this summer in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington VA.
