Marjorie "Margie" Cottle Ross, 84, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at her residence surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2003, at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Tifton with Elder Ronnie Webb and Elder C. O. Moore officiating. Mrs. Ross was laid to rest at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Ross' grandsons, Jeff Ross, Brian Barbee, Todd Ross, Wes Ross, Oren Ross, Chris Maxwell and Neal Roberson served as pallbearers.
Born August 8, 1919, in Ty Ty (Tift County), Mrs. Ross was the daughter of the late Solomon Mills Cottle and Carrie Johnson Cottle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Oren Ross, Jr., who passed away in 1986; one son, James Oren Ross, III; two brothers; and two sisters. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mrs. Ross is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy M. and Charlene Ross, Larry C. and Linda Ross, Michael N. and Chrystle Ross and Tim and Lynn Ross, all of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra R. and Curtis Barbee and Tammy Elaine and Jon Koran, all of Tifton; one sister, Lelia Brubaker of California; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and her caregivers, Judy Cooper and Geraldine Parker.
