Charles Falcon Rooks, 77, of Tifton passed away Sunday, January 19, 2003, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Eddie Allen and the Rev. Mike Hobbs officiating. Mr. Rooks was laid to rest at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton.
Mr. Rooks' grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Ervin McDaniel, Elwood McDaniel, Charles Young, Danny Ogletree, Grady Mathews, Randall Shiver, Rockey Carter, Mickey Roberson, Charles Marshall and Winfred Roberson.
Born December 22, 1926, in Tift County, Mr. Rooks was the son of the late George Jackson Rooks and Mae Goodwin Rooks. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. Before retiring, he was an electrician and worked with Atwater-Peacock in Tifton for 35 years and Ogletree Electric in Tifton for 12 years. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula.
Mr. Rooks is survived by his wife, Rose Sharon McDaniel Rooks of Tifton; one son, Charles A. "Chip" Rooks of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two daughters, Sherry Rooks Ogletree and Gale Rooks Rescott, both of Tifton; two sisters, Lois Rooks Hipps of Tifton and Ruth Rooks Dewitt of Long Beach, California; ten grandchildren, Melissa Ferguson, Beth Rooks, Matthew Rooks, Shane Bailey, Lee Ogletree, John Rooks, Joshua Rooks, Russell Ogletree, Mitchell Ogletree and Sandi Bailey and four great-grandchildren.
