
Ruby Nell Owens Patterson, 83, of Vanceville passed away Saturday, December 20, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at Brookfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Howell, pastor of Alma United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Walter Powell, pastor of Brookfield United Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Patterson was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Josh Sheffield, Mike Harden, Bill McCranie, Lamar David, George Garris, Jr. and Johnny Soles served as pallbearers.
Born March 28, 1920, in Wilcox County, Mrs. Patterson was the daughter of the late Joseph Owens and Claudie Herndon Owens Coleman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Almond Patterson, who passed away in 1984. Before retiring, she was a saleslady and City Shoe Store in Tifton for almost 50 years.; and she was a member of Brookfield United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Patterson is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Delores and the Rev. Ronnie Howell of Alma; one brother, Marty C. Owens of Tallahassee, Florida; one sister, Estelle Perrault of Tifton; three grandchildren and their spouses, Kimberly and Josh Sheffield of Brooklet, Rhonda and Mike Harden of Brunswick and Michael Howell of Canton; three great-grandchildren, Wesley harden, Chris harden and Sara Beth Sheffield; and several nieces and nephews.
