Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phat, a beloved member of our community. Phat Huu Thai was 69. He died Saturday, April 13th in the Hermitage Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 40 years, Loi Vo; three children, Dung Thai and her husband, Matthew Varney of Leicester, Anh Thai and her husband, Kevin Nguyen of Worcester, and Hoang Thai of Worcester; and five grandchildren, Leah, Jacob, Emily, Demi and Vince.
Phat was born in the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam where he began his journey through life. In 2003, he embarked on a new chapter immigrating to the United States in Pursuit of a better future.
For over 15 years, Phat dedicated himself to his work as a mechanic at Prematech, where he displayed exceptional skill and commitment. His expertise and passion for fixing things extended far beyond the workplace, as he found joy in tinkering with electronic equipment and bringing them back to life.
Outside of work, Phat embraced various hobbies that brought him immense happiness. He had a melodious voice and a talent for playing the guitar, often spending hours lost in the music he loved. Whether singing his heart out or strumming his guitar, Phat found solace and joy in the rhythm of melodies.
Phat prioritized fitness and enjoyed spending time working out, nurturing both his body and mind. His dedication to physical well-being mirrored his commitment to his craft, showing his unwavering determination in every aspect of his life.
Phat leaves behind a legacy of hard work, passion, and kindness. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will continue to resonate through the memories and the lives he has enriched.
In honoring Phat’s memory, let us cherish the moments we shared with him and carry forward the values he exemplified.
His calling hours are Friday, April 19th from 4:30 until 8:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. His funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by cremation at Rural Crematory, 180 Grove Street.
