Robert Lee Hale, 76, of Lake Park, formerly of Tifton, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. John S. Gibbs, Sr. officiating. Mrs. Hale was laid to rest at Eldorado Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hale's grandsons served as pallbearers.
Born August 2, 1927, in Chula, Mr. Hale was the son of the late Virgil Hale and Ollie Long Hale. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marcella Hale; two brothers; and two sisters. Before retiring, he worked in the railroad industry in construction; and he was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Hale is survived by his wife, Geraldine Shockley Hale of Lake Park; one son, Rodney Hale of Lake Park; one daughter, Sandra Mercer of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Clyde Hale of Tifton and Albert Hale of Watkinsville; one sister, Murdell McCorvey of Nashville; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
