Obituary

James Otis Golden 81, of Omega passed away Saturday, April 12, 2003, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Omega Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Moon and the Rev. Terrell Ruis officiating. Mr. Golden was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Terry Dorman, Steve Webb, Robert Dunn, Timmy Dunn, Jimmy Browning, Dennis golden, Jimmy Golden and Richard Golden served as pallbearers.

Born March 14, 1922, in Tift County, Mr. Golden was the son of the late Arthur Jacob Golden and Arie Cobie Thompson Golden. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel Golden and four brothers. Before retiring, he was a warehouse worker at J. P. Stevens; and he was a member of Omega Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion; and he was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II.

Mr. Golden is survived by his wife, Betty Joyce Evans Golden of Omega; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Soon Golden of Korea; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Tommy Pitts of Tifton; three sisters, Dorothy Dunn of Omega and Lola Mae York and Joyce Webb, both of Tifton; seven grandchildren, Christopher Golden, Danella Golden, Cathy Kim, Heather Curry, Stephanie Wilson. Ansley Pitts and Mindy Pitts; and six great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Curry, Lisa Curry, Justin Pitts, Calem Pitts, Lacey Pitts and Cole Pitts.
