Avis "Billie" Williams Parnell Griffin, 83, of Lenox passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service was held for Mrs. Griffin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, at Tift Memorial Gardens, where she was entombed. The Rev. Jimmie Hinson officiated.
Born July 27, 1919, in Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late Richard Bomer Williams and Anna Godwin Williams. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Gabe Parnell; her second husband, Samuel "Pinky" Griffin; two brothers, R. B. Williams and James Rodney Williams; and two sisters, Jewl Agnes Carriker and Victoria Williams.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by three brothers, Roy Edward Williams of Lafayette, Robert L. Williams of Crossville, Alabama and Billy Ray Williams of Fort Payne, Alabama; and four sisters, Peggy Goldin of Rainesville, Alabama, Rita Schreiber of Crawfordville, Florida, Ronnie Trammell of Lafayette and Betty Bates of Tunnell Hill.
