Jo-An L. Horan, 92

Jo-An L. (Messinger) Horan of Kingston, formerly of Mansfield, Middleboro and Sharon, died peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024 at the age of 92. She was the loving daughter of the late Ebba (Eklund) and Abner Messinger.

Born in Boston and raised in Mattapan, she was the loving wife of the late Sharon Chief of Police, Albert R. Horan, and adored mother of Roy and his wife, Karen, Kenneth and his wife Karen, Lois, and Elizabeth and her husband, Theodore Joubert. “Nanee” loved and doted on her grandchildren, Tyler, Kelsey, Kenneth, Andrew, Jonathan, Nicholas (deceased), Sarah, Hannah, Valerie, Michael and Amanda, as well as her six great grandchildren.

Jo-An was a 1949 Graduate of Hyde Park High School and active on its reunion committee, and a graduate of Hickox Secretarial School. A 36-year resident of Sharon, Jo-An was employed as secretary at the Sharon Police Department for 25 years while her husband was Chief. She also served as President of the Sharon Junior Fortnightly Club and was one of the founders and former president of the Sharon High School Boosters Club. She was subsequently an 18-year resident of Mansfield before moving to Middleboro, and then Kingston.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, April 14th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, April 15th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Sharon.
