Obituary

NEW BEDFORD — Herbert Catlow, 93, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2006. He was the devoted and loving husband of Hilda Catlow for 59 years. He was born in Denton, England and came with his parents to the United States when he was seven years old. He has resided in New Bedford for the last 76 years.
In his early life, Mr. Catlow and his parents were the proprietors of Catlow's Fish and Chip store on Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford. Mr. Catlow worked for the City of New Bedford as the Sealer of Weights and Measures for 34 years. He was a veteran of World War II and served his country as a member of the Army Air Corps in the Pacific.
He was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, William Catlow and his wife, Sandra, of Princeton, MA; and his daughter, Deborah Magoon and her husband, Gary, of Manchester, CT. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Ian Catlow of Sterling, MA and Gregory Magoon and Jessica Magoon of Manchester, CT.

His funeral will take place on Monday, July 17, 2008, at 10 A.M., in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St. New Bedford with visitation on Sunday afternoon from 4-6 P.M., and burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
