Patricia "Gayle" Eaton Baker, 75, of Tifton passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Baker at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Chip Grantham and the Rev. Landon Alberson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will be held for Mrs. Baker at a later date at Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Cook County.
Born June 24, 1948, in Lenox (Cook County), Mrs. Baker was the daughter of the late Hubert Eugene Eaton and Lottie Ruth Womack Eaton. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Eaton, Bo Eaton and Ronnie Eaton; and three sisters, Sarah Register, Jean Arnold and Ruthie Lee Eaton.
While living in Tifton, she worked at Allen, Pritchett and Bassett for ten years and six years for J. H. Services before moving to Greenville, North Carolina, where she worked for 20 years and retired from East Carolina University. She then moved back to Tifton to be closer to family. She was a dedicated and outstanding wife, mother, Gigi, grandma and sister. She was an excellent homemaker and a great cook. She was a classy lady and had a great sense of style and enjoyed decorating and gardening.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband, Donnie Baker of Tifton, who she married in 1981; three sons and daughters-in-law, Josh and Jan Hill of Walton, Kentucky, Jeremy and Jana Hill of Tifton and Scott and Kris Baker of Chocowinty, North Carolina; two brothers, Clyde Eaton of Napa, California and Tony Eaton of Tifton; two sisters, Myrtice Casey of Hiram and Sylvia Hurst of North Augusta, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Blaid and Briana Baker, Remi and Axel Hill, Tanner and Morgan Hill and Drew Graham; and one great-granddaughter, Braelynn Baker.
